Did you know that it is a myth that only old people can get arthritis? Young people are also at risk of developing the disease.

There are more than 100 different forms of arthritis and related diseases. The most known types include osteoarthritis (OA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), fibromyalgia and gout.

Osteoarthritis (OA)

OA occurs when the flexible tissue at the ends of bones (i.e. cartilage) wears down. Treatment can help, but this condition can’t be cured. The condition can last for years or be lifelong. The wearing down of the protective tissue occurs gradually and worsens over time. It causes joint pain in the hands, neck, lower back, knees or hips.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)

RA is the most common type of autoimmune arthritis. It is caused when the immune system (the body’s defense system) is not working properly. RA causes pain and swelling in the wrists, ankles and small joints of the hand and feet.

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA)

PsA is a form that affects some people who have the skin condition called psoriasis. Psoriatic arthritis is a type of inflammatory arthritis. Symptoms include joint pain, stiffness, and swelling, which may flare and subside. Many people with the condition are affected by morning stiffness. Even mild skin psoriasis can result in a significant degree of arthritis.

Fibromyalgia arthritis (FBA)

FBA commonly shows as widespread muscle pain and tenderness. Treatment can help, but this condition can’t be cured. Fibromyalgia is often accompanied by fatigue and altered sleep patterns, memory, and mood. Medication, talk therapy, and stress reduction may help control symptoms.

Gout

Gout is a type that causes inflammation, usually in one joint, that begins suddenly. It is caused by crystals of uric acid being deposited in a joint. It can cause signs and symptoms such as joint redness, nodules under the skin (called tophi), joint pain, swollen joints, and warmth of the joint.

The most consistent method of diagnosing gout is from an inflamed joint to have fluid removed and examined for uric acid crystals. Chronic gout is treated by lowering the uric acid level in the body by using medications. Gout can cause irreversible kidney problems, joint damage, and tophi if it’s left untreated.

Natural home remedies for relief of arthritic pain

Drink ginger and lemon tea. Stop eating fast food, junk food, fried food, and processed food. Eat fresh fruits, veggies, whole grains, fish, olive oil, nuts, garlic, onions, and herbs. Sniff some fragrant spices. Japanese researchers have found that lavender reduces levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which can make you feel relaxed and less aware of pain. Dipping your hands in hot water can help relax muscles and joints and relieve stiffness. Fill a cotton sock but don’t use a synthetic fiber with any kind of uncooked rice and seal it. Heat it for 2 or 3 minutes. When it cools down slightly but is still warm, place it on the sore, stiff joint for pain relief.

Orthayu

OrthAyu is a blended formulation of 17 effective herbal oils that are proven to have therapeutic and medicinal properties. These oils help relieve muscle pain, spasms, joint pains, pain in shoulder, neck, back, knees, without any side effects. The ingredients have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-spasmodic properties that help in reducing pain and its effects.

If you’re looking for a natural way to reduce pain or simply want a supplement on top of your meds, there are plenty of options out there that could do the trick. Here are just a few herbal remedies that could help to fight the discomfort.

Turmeric

Turmeric has e anti-inflammatory properties as well as it boosts the immune system. It is really useful to relieve and reduce pain caused by arthritis. You can take turmeric in the form of pills or mix it in with foods (it’s a popular ingredient in curries!).

Ginger

Got a stomach ache? Ginger has long been used as pain relief for digestive problems and menstrual pain. It can also be effective at fighting nausea, helping to line the stomach wall. You can take ginger in many forms. Ginger tea is the most common way, although you can incorporate it into meals directly.

Devil’s Claw

This strange looking plant gets its name from its reddish claw-like appearance. When digested as a herb, some people have found it to be a potent form of pain relief that can help with everything from joint paint to heartburn. Devil’s claw can affect blood pressure and heart rate, so you may want to avoid it if you have a heart disorder. You can take devil’s claw extract in doses using products found at your local pharmacy.

Cannabis oil

Cannabis oil can also be an effective form of pain relief. It’s a common remedy to treat chronic pain such as arthritis or degenerative conditions. It’s legal form has different manufacturing process from the recreational drug. you may be able to find it at your local pharmacy or online.

Willow Bark

The bark of a willow tree is useful to treat headaches. This is because it contains the chemical salicin, which is part of aspirin. In fact, many people use it as an alternative to aspirin and other chemical painkillers due to its effectiveness. You can ingest willow bark in various different forms including herbal tea and capsules, which you can usually find at a pharmacy or health store.

Bromelain

Love pineapple? Bromelain is the key ingredient in this tropical fruit and is extremely useful to relieve chronic pain. It breaks down proteins to help fight inflammation. It is a popular remedy for people suffering from arthritis. Unfortunately, you’re unlikely to get the impact from just eating pineapple alone – you’re better off taking bromelain as an extract in the form of pills or liquid.

Ginseng

Ginseng is most commonly used to fight the effects of fibromyalgia and translates from Chinese as ‘all-healing manroot’. Its has relaxing qualities which are effective against migraines and joint pain. You can take ginseng in the form of pills or as a herbal tea to reduce pain.

Orthayu
